APPEARANCES: HERE, THERE, AND EVERYWHERE
APPEARANCES: HERE, THERE, AND EVERYWHERE
This month has been wonderfully busy, filled with appearances, workshops, books, and talking craft with fellow creatives—and honestly, I have enjoyed every minute of it.
I kicked things off at the inaugural Prescott Valley Public Library Book Festival, where I presented a workshop on KidLit Fit, sold and signed books, and had the chance to connect with readers, writers, and families throughout the day. It was such a warm, welcoming event, and really well organized. It’s exciting to see a brand-new festival get off to such a strong start, and I hope they keep it going. I would love to attend again next year.
Afterward, I took advantage of being out of town and treated myself to a quiet retreat day in an Airbnb—something I don’t do nearly often enough. A little solitude, a little writing time, and a chance to recharge in a beautiful setting was exactly what I needed.
The following week, I was a panelist and presenter at the Sonoran Writers Conference one-day conference, where I basically got to spend the entire day talking books, storytelling, publishing, and writing craft with other authors and industry folks. Those are always my favorite kinds of events—full of thoughtful conversations, creative energy, and people who truly love stories. A lot of Brick Cave authors and editors were there, and we got to hang out, which is always fun.
Then the next weekend, I shifted gears and presented a workshop on cover design basics for indie authors, where we dug into the nuts and bolts of effective book cover creation—genre expectations, visual hierarchy, typography, branding, and all the little details that make readers click or keep scrolling.
All in all, May has already been a very full month in the best possible way. I’m grateful for every invitation, every conversation, and every opportunity to connect with the writing community. Now…maybe I should unpack my event bag for at least a few days before the next adventure.
